Living as we do in an age of noise and bluster, success is now measured accordingly. We must all be seen, and heard, and on the air.

About This Quote

The idea of living in an age of noise and bluster is that our society has become too busy to take the time to think about how we are doing in life. We are constantly in a state of panic. If we aren’t in the middle of a conversation, someone is calling us on our phone, or if we aren’t listening to music, someone is playing it in their car. We are so used to being bombarded with so much information that we have forgotten what makes us happy.

We have forgotten how to be quiet and still, and enjoy what is around us. This quote also reminds me of the second season of "Breaking Bad" where Walt goes into hiding because he has just discovered that all his money is being invested into a drug empire he started. His family tell him that he is crazy for becoming a drug kingpin but Walt decides there was no other way to get ahead in this day and age.
